1 The pointer does not move.
Cause of fault: the indicator or sensor is damaged; the connecting wire is loose.
Inspection and troubleshooting method: Turn on the key switch, start the engine, and ground the terminal of the oil pressure gauge sensor. At this time, the following two situations will occur.
a The needle moves. It means that the pressure gauge is good and the fault is in the sensor or the oil channel. At this time, you can remove the sensor and use a flat-headed stick to support the diaphragm in the sensor. If the needle does not move, the fault is that the sensor is damaged; if the needle moves, the fault is in the oil channel.
b The needle does not move. It means that the fault is in the pressure gauge or the connecting wire. At this time, you can use a wire to scratch the power supply wiring of the oil pressure gauge and the engine body. If there is no fire, the fault is that the power connection is broken; if there is fire, remove the wire, connect one end to the terminal of the sensor, and scratch the other end with the engine body. If the needle still does not move at this time, the fault is in the oil pressure gauge. If the needle moves, the fault is that the connection between the oil pressure gauge and the sensor is loose.
2 Turn on the power switch, the oil pressure gauge pointer starts to move before the engine starts.
Cause of the fault: There is a short circuit in the pressure gauge, sensor or wire.
Inspection and troubleshooting method: Turn off the power, remove the sensor end wire first, and then turn on the key switch for testing. If the needle no longer moves, it means that there is iron or short circuit inside the sensor; if the needle still moves, check whether there is any grounding point between the oil pressure gauge and the sensor.
3 The pointer indication value is inaccurate.
Refer to the inspection specifications and check on the test bench. If there is no test bench, you can also use a milliammeter, a variable resistor and a battery in series to form a detection circuit, and check and debug according to the operating procedures.
(2) Faults and troubleshooting of electromagnetic oil pressure gauges
1 The pointer does not move or moves slightly.
Cause of the fault: The indicator coil is unsoldered or broken; the pointer is deformed and stuck; the pointer contacts the dial; the wire between the indicator and the sensor is poorly fused or broken; the sensor resistor is burned out; the sliding contact piece and the resistor are in poor contact; the corrugated diaphragm is damaged or aged; the sensor oil hole is blocked; the movable structure is stuck, etc.
Inspection and elimination method: Use a multimeter to check whether the wire between the indicator and the sensor is in poor contact or broken, remove the indicator housing, check whether the pointer is deformed or skewed, whether the needle and the dial are in contact, etc.; Use a multimeter to check the sensor conduction, remove the sensor housing, check whether the sliding contact piece is in good contact with the resistor, whether the corrugated diaphragm is damaged or aged, whether the sensor oil hole is blocked, whether the movable structure is stuck, etc. Eliminate it according to the above inspection conditions.
2 Turn on the power switch, the engine has not started yet, and the oil pressure gauge pointer starts to move.
Cause of failure: There is a short circuit in the pressure gauge, sensor or wire.
Inspection and elimination method: Turn off the power, remove the sensor end wire first, and then turn on the key switch for testing. If the needle no longer moves, it means that the sensor is grounded or short-circuited; if the needle still moves, check whether the wire between the oil pressure gauge and the sensor is grounde
